Movie about Iran... :(

Today, I watched a movie about “The Stoning of Soraya M”. This movie is about Soraya, a woman who was accused of adultery. In the beginning of this story, Ali, her husband wanted to divorce his wife because he wanted to marry to a woman who is 14 years old. According to the Islam religion, husband can marry to other woman again if he can support his wife in financially and physically. However, Ali could not do it. He sent the religious leader to convince Soraya, but she refused. Therefore, they made a plot to kill Soraya by accusing her that she committed adultery with another man called Hashem.

This movie is so sad and it makes me cry a lot. I have never seen this case in my country even though my country is Muslim. I am very glad that my president doesn’t make a decision to run my country as the Muslim Republic even though a lot of terrorists or Muslim Communities want to change the paradigm of my country, Indonesia. From this movie, I have learned that the women in the Middle East Asian, don’t get equal treatment from men. It is unbelievable for me that men treat women only as a trash or a doll that they have to do chores, serve or feed men and families, give a birth, and etc.

I was also angry when I saw this movie; the justice looks like blind… one of the ridiculous things that I saw was the judge needed a sign to execute Soraya. When he got the sign, he didn’t follow the sign that God already gave to him. So, why did he ask God if he could be as a God? In the beginning of this movie, I saw a good statement about Hypocrites. At first, I didn’t understand why the producer used this statement, but when I watched, I realized it was true that many people behaved their selves as they know a lot about Islam, but they didn’t know it as well. They only made this religion irrelevant because everything was based on perception; also they practiced it for their own advantage. I hope there are justice and equal treatment for women in the Middle East.

I also learn that greed and selfishness can make a lot of trouble. In my opinion, the death penalty like stoning stones is not appropriate for punishing a human. A human must get a punishment as fair as a human’s punishment not like an animal’s punishment.
